Since joining the greenwerk. in May 2017, Christine Nettersheim has supported the company’s business development as well as several advisory projects with her expertise in international climate policy, especially related to climate finance. These projects range from capacity building measures (e.g. development of online trainings on climate finance and carbon pricing mechanisms) over project development and evaluation (e.g. within the context of the Green Climate Fund (GCF)) to strategic consulting (e.g. commenting of GCF Board documents on behalf of the Climate Finance Advisory Service (CFAS)). In addition, Christine contributed to several CFAS policy briefs in relation the topic of climate finance within the context of United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). Besides her project-related experience, Christine has also become a Certified Expert in Climate and Renewable Energy Finance in 2018, after successfully completing a course at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. To follow-up on the latest developments in international climate policy and to support outreach activities of the greenwerk., Christine is a frequent observer at the UN climate conferences.

Before starting her career in consulting, Christine graduated as Master of Arts in European Studies from the Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (Belgium) in 2016 and completed a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science and Economics at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz (Germany) and Cardiff University (United Kingdom) in 2014. During her studies, she already collected experience in the field of international relations and development cooperation, including internships at the Representation of Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in Brussels, with GIZ’s Climate Finance Readiness Programme in Bonn and with the United Nations Environment Programme in Nairobi. Furthermore, she has worked as an independent consultant for the GIZ project TraCS – Transport Climate Strategies in Kenya.
