Lena joined the greenwerk. as a Junior Advisor for Climate Finance in April 2022. Her focus lies on developing climate finance tracking systems to increase transparency and on consulting and preparing of GCF projects, including in the field of climate change adaptation through Nature-based Solutions.
Lena has an academic background in sustainability and climate change sciences, in which she specialised in climate policy and governance. After graduating from her B.Sc. in Earth, Energy and Sustainability from Leiden University College magna cum laude, she completed her M.Sc. in Climate Studies at Wageningen University in Research also cum laude. During her studies, Lena acquired sound research skills that she demonstrated by publishing her B.Sc. thesis in an academic journal.
Next to her academic journey, Lena gained profound experience in the area of sustainability consulting of both public and private sector stakeholders. Starting at the Mercator Research Institute on Global Commons and Climate Change, she participated in scientific consultancy of German climate politics and supported related publications through research. During her internship at Systain, she gained skills in business consulting for sustainability with a particular focus on quantifying environmental impacts of products and supply chains. As a working student at adelphi, she supported policy consultancy projects on governing sustainability in the economy through due diligence legislation in supply chains, with a focus on German and G7 processes. Additionally, she contributed to published research papers commissioned by the German Ministry of Environment.
