In February 2024, Mikael joined as a Junior Advisor at the greenwerk., where he applies his knowledge and experience in climate finance and sustainable development. His responsibilities center around supporting the design of funding proposals for international donors and climate funds and analysis of international climate policy and finance data. Mikael’s academic background, with an MA in Public Policy from the University of Erfurt and a BA in International Relations from PUC Minas allows him to navigate the complexities of climate finance and mitigation. His knowledge in multiple languages — Portuguese, English, Spanish and German — further enables him to operate effectively in various international environments.

Mikael's journey began with his involvement in innovative projects working for a State Government in Brazil. These experiences laid a foundation for his work in international development and sustainability. During his experience at Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ), Mikael enhanced his skills in data analysis and strategic planning. He supported Green Climate Fund Readiness projects developed his skills in advancing climate finance across SIDS and other countries and in fostering an environment conducive to green finance learning and exchange.

Prior to joining the greenwerk., Mikael worked for E Co. Ltd on evaluating sustainability and climate finance in line with key international funds such as the GCF and GEF.
